Rena Carney

Rena Carney was a co-founder of the Pagoda, a lesbian intentional community and cultural center in St. Augustine, FL, that was active from 1977 to about 1999. She wrote, produced, and performed in plays at the 50-seat Pagoda Playhouse from 1977 to 1982, when she moved to Gainesville, FL, and shifted her energies to mainstream theatre. During the 1980s and 90s, she performed regularly at the Florida state theatre there, the Hippodrome (https://thehipp.org/). She maintains her Actors Equity membership, and continues to write plays, especially for children with disabilities.
